Puppy Manners?
So you have gone out and adopted a new puppy. It was love at first sight. Your puppy is the most adorable puppy in the world. You feel quite lucky to have found such a happy, playful, inquisitive little guy that fits into your family great. But did you know that all those little quirks that you find playful and inquisitive, while cute now that he or she is ten pounds, can become very bad habits once they have grown into adulthood and weight more than sixty to eighty pounds. I used a large breed example, but the same can be true for a full grown twenty or thirty pounds. Even a five to ten pound companion, with poor mannerscan reek havoc on the public.
Now is the time to start thinking about manners training. A well behaved dog can make a mundane walk around your neighborhood a dream. Its cute that the puppy is pulling on his leash now, but when he is older and has more weight behind him, it can become a hazard. Finding Friends for Your English Bulldog Puppy
As a new puppy parent, you’re probably thinking of how to keep your English Bulldog puppy social and well liked around the neighborhood. One important part of doing that is allowing him to play with other dogs frequently.
Visiting the local dog parks are the best way to find some puppy friends for your English Bulldog puppy. Being able to socialize with other pet parents will allow you to match your puppy’s behavior and personality with the other puppies in the area. Remember that English Bulldog puppies get along well with other dogs but you want to be sure their friends are the same size. You don’t want your pup to bully the other dogs or hurt them with his size and strength.
Taking your English Bulldog puppy to puppy classes will also allow him the chance to meet friends the same age and, usually, the same size as him. Your pup may Continue reading
Puppy Preschool vs. Puppy Kindergarten
Here at the Zoom Room, when new puppy owners come to our Puppy Preschool classes, they often ask. So after this, do we take Puppy Kindergarten? After all, with humans there’s a definite difference between preschool and kindergarten. (As everyone knows, preschool is where kids learn to eat paste; and kindergarten is where they learn to put paste in the cute girl’s hair.)
But with puppies? Is there a difference between Puppy Kindergarten and Puppy Preschool?
The short and the long answer is: No. They mean exactly the same thing. Remember that dogs mature much faster than we humans. The old seven-years-to-one ratio holds pretty true. So to make such a fine distinction between puppy preschool and puppy kindergarten really doesn’t make sense in dog years.
Puppy Training School : Tips To Prepare For The First Class
You have made a good decision to take your puppy to Puppy Training School and here are some tips on how to prepare for the first class. Dress in casual comfortable clothes as you will be totally involved in the training of your puppy and it is not unusual to have to sit on the floor with your puppy. Also wear shoes with low heels and soft soles. As skirts tend to flap in a dog’s face it is a good idea to wear trousers if possible and you will also need a pocket or waist bag for tit-bits.
These tips will help you prepare your puppy too. To ensure that your puppy is comfortable wearing a collar start placing one on it long before the first day at school. You don’t want an over excited puppy arriving at school on its first day, so if you need to take the puppy by car to the venue ensure that the puppy is used to travelling in the car. It is advisable to take the puppy for short rides in the car a few days prior to starting school so that it gets used to it. It is not a good idea to feed Continue reading
