So you have gone out and adopted a new puppy. It was love at first sight. Your puppyis the most adorable puppy in the world.You feel quite lucky to have found such a happy, playful, inquisitive little guy that fits into your family great. But did you know that all those little quirks that you find playful and inquisitive, while cute now that he or she is ten pounds, can become very bad habits once they have grown into adulthood and weight more than sixty to eighty pounds. I used a large breed example,but the same can be true for a full grown twenty or thirty pounds. Even a five to ten pound companion, with poor mannerscan reek havoc on the public.
Now is the time to start thinking about manners training. A well behaved dog can make a mundane walk around your neighborhood a dream. Its cute that the puppy is pulling on his leash now, but when he is older and has more weight behind him, it can become a hazard. A well behaved companion can even accompany you in some neighborhood stores. Having a pet that is well behaved will be less likely to cause incidents in public. If your puppy knows how to sit on command and does not run from you, even if playfully, he or she is less likely to be hit by a vehicle that may not have seen them. That is just one example but there are many other reasons for having early puppy training.
