Puppy Manners?
So you have gone out and adopted a new puppy. It was love at first sight. Your puppyis the most adorable puppy in the world. You feel quite lucky to have found such a happy, playful, inquisitive little guy that fits into your family great. But did you know that all those little quirks that you find playful and inquisitive, while cute now that he or she is ten pounds, can become very bad habits once they have grown into adulthood and weight more than sixty to eighty pounds. I used a large breed example, but the same can be true for a full grown twenty or thirty pounds. Even a five to ten pound companion, with poor mannerscan reek havoc on the public.
Now is the time to start thinking about manners training. A well behaved dog can make a mundane walk around your neighborhood a dream. Its cute that the puppy is pulling on his leash now, but when he is older and has more weight behind him, it can become a hazard. A well behaved companion can even accompany you in some neighborhood stores. Having a pet that is well behaved will be less likely to cause incidents in public. If your puppy knows how to sit on command and does not run from you, even if playfully, he or she is less likely to be hit by a vehicle that may not have seen them. That is just one example but there are many other reasons for having early puppy training.
A few other reasons include reducing the incident of fighting when meeting other dogs. I would consider this a light reason, because bad manners is a small reason behind fights. Continue reading

Dog Cages Simplify House Training
Getting a new puppy can be exciting for the whole family. You can’t wait to get the puppy to its new home so it can play and become familiar with its new owners. But wait! There’s one thing you forgot about – house training! Training your puppy to “go” outside is no picnic, but it is much easier with the use of dog cages.
Puppy Space
Dog cages or dog crates enable you to provide a bed and small “home within your home” for the puppy. The cage will be the puppy’s own space, sort of like a dog house when outdoors. A crate can serve several purposes. It gives the dog a safe, secure place to sleep. A cage makes training a lot easier because dogs usually won’t go to the bathroom where they eat and sleep. It also keeps your dog in a contained area so he doesn’t roam the house freely. He won’t be chewing wires Continue reading
